The Institute

The importance of knowledge and education hardly needs any emphasis. To Islam, no scheme of Muslims is of greater significance than the scheme of education. The entire edifice of the Islamic scheme of things rests on Ilm (knowledge). Islam has therefore enjoined upon Muslims, both men and women, to attain the knowledge they need in fulfilling their commitments as Muslims, thus attaching the highest excellence of ilm and Ulama.

Centuries long history of Muslims bears testimony to the fact that the ilm has always ben the chief concern of the Muslim Ummah and through all the ages it has unflinchingly maintained its own system of education, designed after its distinct ideology.

Talking in context of the Indian sub-continent, the Muslim community did always remain attached to a healthy, sound and robust system of education until the British colonial rule subdued it in the midst of the nineteenth century. The colonial rule introduced its own wystem of education in order to breed an Anglo-Indian generation willing to serve the glaring colonial ends. The false splendour of this new education system, too, suffered a great setback.

The political as well as the educational disruption nanaturally brought a tumult in the Muslim society. The colonial education system sowed distrust in the minds of young Muslim.
